Sportcamp Woferlgut

Hello everybody, we are the Dressler family from Berlin and I, Helga (45), the mother, am telling you here how we left behind the big city stress on our holiday at this 5-star family camping.

My husband, Joachim, and his motorhome is a story in its own right. It all started about 3 years ago. Joachim, who was then 51, got an interesting job offer and decided to change his job. He thought why not start something new at 50 and jumped into the new venture. In his new company, he met Klaus, a colleague, who was raving about his motorhome holidays. As if this was not enough, he made Joachim’s mouth water by showing him beautiful pictures of their holidays and the motorhome. Joachim, who loves comfort on vacation, quickly realised the benefits of this kind of holiday. Klaus didn’t forget to mention that there were many well-maintained used models on the market. He also gave him tips on what to look out for as a new buyer and pointed to interesting portals for further information. And a short while later we had an XL-motorhome in our driveway.

We didn’t only want to travel in pleasant conditions and comfort, but we also wanted to make sure that the destination wouldn’t leave any desires unfulfilled. Since we were not so lucky last year with our choice of campsite in the South of Europe, this time we wanted to get it right. It was Klaus again who made a suggestion: "There is no need to go so far. Many campsites in Austria offer a very high standard. Check out the possibilities in the province of Salzburg around Lake Zeller."

We gladly followed his advice and looked for possibilities on our tablet computer where we found the 5-star campsite near ‘Zell am See’. The campsite, Sportcamp Wolferlgut in Bruck seemed just right for our sport-keen family - and we also liked the possibilities the surrounding area had to offer. The decision was made and off we went to Austria, to Bruck on the foot of Großglockner.

Our mood increases with every kilometre which brings us closer to our destination and the landscape becomes more and more beautiful. We are blessed with lots of attractions in Berlin but the city cannot compete with this wonderful panorama. We are pleased to leave behind traffic jams and the noise of honking horns. On arrival we are warmly welcomed by the hosts, who give us an overview of the campsite and its facilities. We are excited to see for the first time the luxury pitch, which we booked. It delivers what it promised to be. All the important connections such as gas, electricity, water, sewer and cable TV are available on the pitch, which measures 150 m². A beautiful private bathing lake and a heated swimming pool, including a sunbathing lawn, are at our disposal - and not only that. Everything is included in the price of the luxury pitch.

On the day of our arrival, we spend our first evening on our pitch, relaxing near the natural pond and enjoying the sunset. But the next day, the family is looking forward to the first holiday adventure - the low-rope-course is waiting for us. What looks quite simple, turns out to be more tricky than expected, but it is great fun. Good balance, strength and dexterity are required to deal with obstacles such as hanging bridges, slacklines and "trembling beams". After this adventure we decide to cool down in the bathing lake before we explore the wellness-and-experience centre. After the sauna, we relax in the resting area. Joachim and I enjoy a fruit cocktail at the bar. The kids are still full of energy. They go to the hobby room to play table tennis with other youngsters. There is no need to worry about lack of entertainment for children. You will find a big indoor area reserved for children with ball pit, climbing wall, a craft room and a cinema. But the highlight for all of us is the time we spend together on family outings.

Zell am See

Since we are all enthusiastic cyclists, we brought our own bikes which Joachim had carefully fixed on the back of our motorhome. The area around Lake Zell is ideally suited to be discovered by mountain bike. There are 1,200 km of marked cycling trails embedded in the most beautiful mountain landscape. Our host recommended one of the numerous family tours and off we went. You can choose your tour based on the level of difficulty - and you can also rent bicycles. For the "Tour de Austria" there are guided bike tours available.

After sporting activities such as an exciting beach volleyball tournament, we enjoyed our wellness treatments. (There is a sport and fitness supervisor on site.) We followed the motto: Workout before pleasure. We are all big sauna fans but also enjoy swimming in the lake and in the outdoor pool. We even managed to visit some of the sights on our luxury camping holiday.

When you spend your camping holiday in Bruck by the Großglockner High Alpine Road, it is an absolute must to visit the Großglockner and the ‘Ice Giants’. The Großglockner High Alpine Road from Bruck to Heiligenblut leaves motorists awe-struck – not because it is dangerous but because of the breathtaking views of the numerous 3000-metre-summits. We will never forget this scenic and panoramic road. We felt a completely different kind of fascination when confronted with the ‘view into the heart of a mountain’. Close to the peaceful village of Werfen, we took the opportunity to visit the largest ice cave in the world – it’s called the giant ice world. Well informed, we came perfectly prepared, wearing solid shoes and functional clothing. At temperatures just under 0 degrees we climbed 134 metres according to the altimeter, discovering the most bizarre ice formations. "Did I see a giant moving?" No, it was only our vivid imagination that played tricks on us. All our holiday experiences in Bruck at the Großglockner High Alpine Road will have a long lasting effect.

Unfortunately, our two weeks’ vacation went by much too quickly and were too short. Next year we will add one more week to have more time to explore the area around our favourite campsite. We would like to wish you a magnificent holiday at the campsite in Bruck near Zell am See at Sportcamp Woferlgut - Family Dressler from Berlin.
