Winter camping means rustic cosiness and plenty of comfort, but also fun and action in the snow, crackling campfire romance and breathtaking nature experiences. Here, we would like to “take you away” as a little introduction to Austria’s most beautiful camping regions. Discover the most fascinating winter camping destinations and look forward to magical winter moments!
Located right next to the Zugspitze cable car and set amid a picturesque, snow-covered mountain backdrop, you can look forward to cosiness and luxury at the very highest level!
Whether you choose Comfort Camping or Camping de Luxe, this beautifully situated site offers the perfect feel-good and holiday experience for every taste – even in the colder months.
With the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, you can also enjoy skiing at its very best. Nine ski areas, 87 modern lifts and more than 200 kilometres of perfectly groomed pistes leave nothing to be desired.
And all of this is available with just one single ski pass!
In addition, you can look forward to spectacular fun parks, fantastic carving pistes, great children’s areas and cosy family runs.
“SKI plus CITY”: what sounds like a mysterious maths problem actually refers to one single ski pass and no fewer than 13 शानदार ski areas.
Winter sports enthusiasts staying at Ferienparadies Natterer See can look forward to a true sensation this season. The new and, in this form, globally unique “SKI plus CITY Pass Stubai Innsbruck” is your ultimate ticket to a total of 308 kilometres of pistes and 111 lifts and cable cars.
It simply doesn’t get any better than that for winter sports!
Stubai Glacier, Axamer Lizum, Schlick 2000 ski centre, Kühtai, Hochoetz, Muttereralm, Bergeralm, Nordkette, Serlesbahnen Mieders, Elferbahnen Neustift, Patscherkofel, Rangger Köpfl and Glungezer:
These 13 ski areas truly have it all and offer top-class conditions for every level and preference. Are you ready for this much fun?
At Ferienparadies Natterer See, you are spoilt for choice. Stay with your own vehicle at the five-star campsite, relax in a cosy mobile home or rental caravan, or unwind in a rustic wood lodge – the choice is yours.
The area surrounding the Aufenfeld campsite is considered a true Eldorado for winter sports enthusiasts. And it’s easy to see why: the snow-covered slopes and mountain sides are simply breathtaking!
Just around three kilometres from the site, the top ski areas of Zillertal Arena and Ski-Optimal Hochfügen/Hochzillertal beckon with their state-of-the-art lift systems, impressive snow reliability and countless charming mountain huts.
By the way, you can hire the right equipment for your day on the slopes directly on site. The free ski bus also runs every half hour, taking you straight from the campsite to the ski area of your choice.
And after all the fun on the piste, it’s time to treat yourself to a dose of wellness: in the indoor pool with whirlpool floor jets, wild water channel, water slide and counter-current system, or in the heavenly Western sauna.
Euro-Camp “Wilder Kaiser” is located directly at the foot of the Unterberg, set in the midst of a fairytale winter landscape. The site features a practical ski and drying room.
Three family-friendly ski areas, a total of 37 kilometres of pistes and excellent snow reliability thanks to modern snowmaking systems – here you can look forward to first-class skiing enjoyment.
Whether it’s the Hochkössen ski area on the Unterberg, the Zahmer Kaiser on the northern slopes of the Kaiser Mountains, or the particularly child-friendly Amberglift in Walchsee with magic carpet and a gentle 500-metre run, simply choose your favourite area!
By the way, just 300 metres from the campsite you will already find the valley station of the Unterberg cable car, a ski school and a ski rental shop. And with the Regiobus, which operates as a ski bus in winter, you can travel comfortably back and forth between the ski areas.
Set in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps and directly next to the valley station of the Fieberbrunn gondola, the Comfort campsite Tirol Camp awaits you.
It is perfectly suited to winter camping, as in the “Wellness and LivinSpa Energy Fountain” you can treat your muscles and joints to some well-deserved care after a day of fun in the snow.
The ski areas of Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang and Fieberbrunn, which have been connected since 2015, entice visitors with a total of 270 kilometres of pistes and 70 lifts, guaranteeing unlimited winter enjoyment.
Particularly convenient: the access point is located right next to the campsite! The ski schools and rental stations are also right there, so you can easily hire the right equipment and even take ski lessons if you wish.
Just 15 minutes by car and you are in a ski paradise! Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau is practically on the doorstep of Camping Seeblick Toni and is considered one of the most varied and beautiful ski areas in Tyrol.
Whether you are a family with children, a beginner or an experienced skier, everyone can enjoy a dream winter experience here. No wonder – the piste network stretches over an impressive 145 kilometres! It delights with top-class blue, red and black runs, three snow parks and 24 welcoming mountain huts.
If you are looking for even more variety, you can reach Ski-optimal Hochzillertal and the Hochfügen ski region in just 30 minutes by car, or the smaller ski area Christlum am Achensee – an absolute insider tip – in about 45 minutes.
By the way: the ski bus stop is located right next to the campsite!
This winter will be truly spectacular around Seecamp Zell am See, as the region is officially ushering in the future of skiing. Two new attractions are making this possible: the completion of the ski area link between Kitzsteinhorn and Maiskogel, and the new “ZellamSeeXpress”.
One of the main draws for ski enthusiasts is – and always will be – the Kitzsteinhorn glacier ski area. Its wide natural-snow pistes guarantee not only an unparalleled skiing experience, but also magnificent views.
The campsite itself is also perfectly prepared for winter campers. Whether it’s a ski boot drying room, a ski bus stop, a ski room with lockable ski lockers, or ski and boot hire, you can expect a true all-round, worry-free service.
And for those who don’t want to hit the slopes every day, there are romantic walks in the snow along the frozen lake or the chance to try the cross-country trail that runs right next to the site. Pure relaxation is also offered by the idyllic winter hiking paths that wind through a magical mountain backdrop.
Dreamlike family, wellness and sports offers, combined with a wide range of leisure activities – that is Sport Camp Woferlgut. The rental caravans, comfort and luxury pitches invite you to feel at home with their cosy atmosphere.
All around the campsite, skiers can really let off steam! For example, in the panorama and family ski area Schmittenhöhe, which not only impresses with 77 kilometres of pistes, but also with one of the world’s longest fun slopes. Even so, it is worth pausing for a moment, because the view of the 30 three-thousand-metre peaks of the Hohe Tauern is simply breathtaking!
Salzburg’s highest ski area, the Kitzsteinhorn, opens the new season as early as October. Right through to early summer, the 61 kilometres of pistes offer plenty of sporting fun. Action is guaranteed here, as this is also home to Austria’s largest superpipe.
And by the way: the famous Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm is just a 30-minute drive away – a trip to this world-renowned ski area is always worthwhile!
In winter, Lake Wolfgang captivates visitors with a particularly magical glow. You can easily experience this for yourself, as the four-star Camping Berau is located прямо on its picturesque shores!
Just as magical is the Postalm, which in the colder months transforms into a wonderful leisure park for winter sports enthusiasts. Up here, almost anything is possible: skiing, cross-country skiing, ski touring, tobogganing and winter hiking.
There is a ski school where both young children and adult beginners can take their first turns on the slopes, as well as a ski rental shop that also offers snowboards and sledges.
Those seeking the ultimate action can take a trip to the Dachstein West ski area, just 45 minutes away by car. And of course, there is also a free ski bus available there!
