Cycling & camping in Salzburg, Upper Austria & Burgenland

Even though the three provinces of Salzburg, Upper Austria and Burgenland differ greatly in terms of landscape, they all share one thing in common: cyclists will feel right at home here! All regions offer ultimate freedom on two wheels and guarantee unforgettable tours. The dense and extensive network of cycle paths is in excellent condition – not only in terms of surface quality, but also when it comes to signposting.

And of course, a special highlight awaits around every corner: nature experiences and cultural sights, rustic inns and sometimes even romantic swimming spots. This leaves just one question: where should your journey take you? Our tip if you find it hard to decide: get to know the regions one by one and then choose the one you like best. After all, each of the Top Camping Austria sites offers the perfect setting to enjoy a little break and explore the surroundings by bike!

Sportcamp Woferlgut

In the Zell am See–Kaprun holiday region, variety is the name of the game. The range of cycling routes is hard to beat, stretching over a total of 1,200 kilometres. With such an extensive selection, every cyclist will find something to suit them – from leisure riders to advanced cyclists and professionals. Whether it’s a circuit around Lake Zell, a few stages of the legendary Tauern Cycle Path, or a climb up into the mountains, each tour has its own unique appeal.

For those who prefer a more relaxed pace, we recommend the easy route from Fürth-Kaprun to the Kurpark in Thumersbach and back. Also starting in Fürth-Kaprun is the so-called Zell am See circuit, which is especially famous for its fantastic views. And after so much exercise in the fresh air, it’s perfect that the Wellness Experience Centre at Sportcamp Woferlgut offers so many wonderful ways to relax afterwards!

Seecamp Zell am See

Anyone spending their camping holiday at Seecamp Zell am See can decide for themselves whether to pedal with full power or rely on the motor assistance of a modern e-bike. You can hire the right bike directly on site, and charging stations are, of course, plentiful in the surrounding area. The many different routes either follow well-marked cycle paths or quiet side roads with little traffic. This means you always have the opportunity to stop along the way and enjoy the magnificent panorama.

If you fancy an easy tour with plenty of scenic and cultural highlights, the Zell am See – Kaprun Castle circuit is just right for you. Cyclists with a reasonable level of fitness, on the other hand, should definitely make a note of the Zell am See – Seepromenade circuit.

Camping Berau

Around Lake Wolfgang there is an endless amount to discover! The area is far too beautiful to rush past by car. So hop on a bike and set off on a journey of exploration! Whether “easy”, “moderate” or “challenging”, everyone will find their personal favourite route here. And while e-bikes are currently among the most popular means of getting around, you can of course also head off on a mountain bike or road bike.

How about the Wolfgangsee–Bad Ischl circuit, for example? We won’t give too much away here, but you can already look forward to fairytale-like views! Also very beautiful, but more demanding, is the route from St. Wolfgang with panoramic views over Lake Mondsee. By the way, Camping Berau naturally offers an e-bike charging station as well!

Strandcamping Podersdorf

Around Lake Neusiedl, a wide Pannonian plain stretches out – perfectly suited for cycling. There are no steep climbs to conquer here; instead, you are rewarded with unspoilt natural landscapes and enchanting vineyards. Whether you are a leisure cyclist or more sportily inclined, you will certainly find the right (cycling) route in this beautiful setting.

One route starts directly in Podersdorf and bears the extraordinary name “Aussichtswarte in der Hölle” – let yourself be surprised by what lies behind it! The same highlight also awaits you on a longer circuit starting in Illmitz. After such an exciting tour, you will appreciate the view over the calm evening lake at Strandcamping Podersdorf all the more.
