NATURE AND CULTURE 1/3 – FIRST PART OF THREE
The campsites of the Top Camping Austria group are located in regions that offer endless natural and cultural delights. If you feel like discovering beautiful landscapes, or if you would like to immerse yourself in fascinating cultural sights, you can look forward to many unforgettable experiences. Would you like to get a few inspirations and ideas?
EVEN YOUR CAR GETS A REST ON THIS CAMPSITE
Rent a bike or take a bus and experience the scenic beauty of the “Tullnerfeld” and feel the magic of the vibrant city of Vienna from a completely different perspective. The extensive cycle path network of the “Tullnerfeld”, with almost no significant height differences, is also ideal for novice cyclists. The manager of the campsite, Franz, offers his guests a different cycle excursion programme every week. You can join a wine cellar tour along the most beautiful wine routes, explore the exciting “Planeten” cycle path or relax on the wonderful St Jacobs path - simply choose the tours you fancy most. And if you get tired on the way it’s not a problem: the bike taxi will bring you back safely and comfortably!
Even for a trip to the cultural metropolis of Vienna, you can leave your car behind and take the bus. During the summer months the campsite offers a comfortable bus shuttle service to Austria’s capital city twice a week. It is up to you whether you take this service just as a means of transport to Vienna or whether you would also like to join the extensive sightseeing-tour through the town at the same time.
UNFORGETTABLE HOLIDAY EXPERIENCES AT THE BEAUTIFUL LAKE NEUSIEDL
If you love nature, you will be drawn to the magic of Lake Neusiedl, not only because of the beautiful, two-kilometre-long natural beach, which extends right along the shore. There are also fascinating salt lakes in the “Neusiedler See – Seewinkel” National Park: approximately 40 salt lakes usually surrounded by dense reed belts. These significant biotopes offer a home to countless rare animal and plant species.
If you like, you can join the herb witch on an excursion with explanation of the herbs along the way in the “Puderbacher Heide” or you may want to take a boat trip to the confluence point of the Wulka with the lake. Enjoy nature at its best in Burgenland!
And of course, the cultural offer is also very impressive. The beautiful and romantic windmill in Podersdorf am See is one of the most photographed sights in Burgenland. Spectacular and indescribably impressive, on the other hand, is the natural setting of the floating stage in Mörbisch, where the famous lake festival takes place every year. In 2018 the operetta "Countess Mariza" will be performed here!
The region of Lake Neusiedl is also well known to wine lovers. In the cellars and wineries you can taste fine wines. And if you are interested in live music you can enjoy open-air concerts on the beach in Podersdorf am See during the summer months!
SUMMER THEATRE FESTIVALS AND ART IN BEAUTIFUL CARINTHIA
The popular summer theatre festival on Lake Klopein in the south of Carinthia has a long-standing tradition and does not only attract culture fans. The picturesque open-air stage of the former Augustinian Monastery in Eberndorf and the Heunburg theatre in Völkermarkt serve as event venues. Both locations can easily be reached from Camping Breznik. For those who don’t know the Heunburg Theater, it is undoubtedly one of Austria's most beautiful stages and, with its distinctive wooden grandstand, it resembles Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.
Art lovers should visit Bleiburg where, in particular, the museum dedicated to the artist Werner Berg, located on the main square in Bleiburg (www.wernerberg.museum), has in recent years become a magnet for art lovers from all over Europe. With its rich treasure trove of museums, collections and cultural monuments as well as numerous concerts and cultural events, Bleiburg deserves its reputation as a cultural city.
EXPERIENCE MAJESTIC EAGLES AND CUTE LITTLE MONKEYS FIRST HAND
You can look forward to some special encounters with animals on your excursions near Seecamping Berghof. For example, at Landskron castle and its bird of prey park that is unique in Europe: as part of a 40-minute eagle free-flight demonstration you will get a fascinating impression of the behaviour of these majestic birds of prey. And you will also learn from the falconer lots of exciting details that will make you a little more familiar with these animals. From the observation tower, you can enjoy a wonderful 360-degree panoramic view of the area. By the way: the imposing Landskron rock castle is definitely worth a visit!
About 150 Japanese macaques are looking forward to welcoming you on the “Landsberg” monkey mountain. The cute little monkeys live on a 40,000 square metre wooded and fenced plot. You will have the opportunity to get to know better these cheery animals on a guided tour through the area.
VISIT MUSEUMS AND TAKE A FASCINATING TRIP INTO THE PAST
Around Lake Millstätter, culture and history lovers among the guests of Komfort-Camping Burgstaller can find some special museums and get some interesting insights into the past.
In the Roman Museum you can walk in the footsteps of Romans and Celts and admire valuable exhibits from the ancient city of Teurnia. A bit more contemplative is the visit of the Bonsai Museum. Over an area of 15,000 square metres, you will get to know a little bit about the Japanese soul – at least the botanical side of it!
The Fishery Museum is located in a picturesque ancient fisherman's house: it is said to have been built around 1610. Here you can not only experience a long-forgotten cuisine and dining culture, but also the well-known local freshwater fish, as well as marvel at numerous water sports and fishing gear.
Early medieval history is exhibited in the Museum Carantana, which not only includes indoor exhibition rooms, but also a large archaeology outdoor area.
And if you are interested in traditional craftsmanship, a tour of the Carinthian Craft Museum is an absolute must for you! As a special feature the museum not only shows ancient crafts, typical tools and utensils, but also, in a separate area, emperor robes of Chinese monarchs, carvings of ivory and bone and precious figures of jade, stone and terracotta.
