Donaupark Camping Tulln

My name is Waltraud Müller from Augsburg. I am 48 years old and just returned with my family from our camping holiday at Donaupark Camping Tulln. My husband Thomas (49), our 14 year old twins Thorsten and Pascal and I had a wonderful time there.

We love camping. For us this is the best type of holiday. That’s why we were quite particular about our choice of campsite. We envisaged the possibility of camping along the river Danube in Austria and came across Donaupark Camping in Tulln. The natural location close to the capital city of Vienna appealed to us and we were also attracted by the various leisure activities. Without further ado we reserved a pitch and haven’t regretted it for one second.

Experienced campers know that the term ‘Idyll’ is like an award for a campsite. Immediately upon our arrival at Donaupark Camping Tulln we felt the special atmosphere of this close to nature idyll.

Our motorhome was located in a small open area surrounded by a rich stock of trees boasting over 50 species. We were "completely flashed" about our lovely spot, according to Thorsten’s enthusiastic words.

We really couldn’t complain. The leisure activities at this campsite on the Danube speak for themselves. We had a wonderful swimming lake at our disposal, which is free for the guests of the campsite. We enjoyed it extensively.

The surrounding area offers various sport activities. Beside the adventure bathing lake and the possibility of swimming in open water there is an indoor swimming pool, a mini-golf course, a tennis court, a roller-skating rink, a skating rink, canoe trips and a bicycle rental service as well as water skiing and horse-riding facilities.

After eventful days, we enjoyed relaxing evenings by the campfire, savouring grilled sausages, soft drinks for the twins and a glass of wine for Thomas and me. This campsite offers its guests a specific area with a fire place.

Since Vienna is practically next door, one day we decided to pay the town a visit. The campsite offers a bus service to Vienna, which is very convenient. Apart from shopping and sightseeing we also joined a city tour. Originally we planned to see one of the musical shows in Vienna by using the ticket service provided by the campsite. But in the end we didn’t make it because there was so much else to do on our camping holiday by the Danube.

Thomas and Pascal did not want to miss this, and we decided to join them on the guided canoe tour in the Danube wetlands. It was amazingly quiet and calm! Our two canoes and those of the other participants glided along almost silently. We discovered a completely new world. There is no need to dream about the Amazon jungle, if there is an almost unspoilt nature with a hint of adventure on your doorstep. However, you cannot take part in such a tour if you are afraid of water. The four of us enjoyed our adventure trip in the wilderness of Europe’s largest closed river wetland area in Austria and we will never forget this unique experience.

Danube bike

There was another offer we felt very attracted to: Cycling trips with Franz into the ‘Wachau’ region and the area surrounding Tulln, which could be booked at the campsite reception. Without Franz we would have missed a lot. It was a pleasure to cycle with him across the flat terrain of the ‘Tullnerfeld’.

We cycled along the ‘Donauradweg’ to the Wachau region. Every week there were at least two different guided cycle tours on offer. They often ended with a visit of one of the famous wine taverns or at the ‘Heurigen’. When guests like to stay there longer than originally planned this is no problem: they just call the Bike Taxi Service and for a small fee the taxi brings them back to the campsite. There is no reason to worry about biking after a few glasses of wine.

Donaupark Camping Tulln: Very happy to go back!

We, the Müller family agree: We all look forward to going back again. Not only because we want to see the musical we missed this time in Vienna. In this case we could just book a city trip to Vienna. Our camping holiday on the river Danube in Austria was so beautiful that we cannot wait to go back there. We also look forward to seeing our nice holiday friends again – together we formed a great community.
